Sara + Brandon | Wedding at 1C Barn
I’ve got to tell ya… I have a lot of adorable clients. But when it come to Sara and Brandon, they set the bar with how thoughtful and considerate they are.
Sara and Brandon’s wedding was Disney themed, and I found that extremely becoming of the type of person Sara is. She is the personification of a real life Disney princess. She always seems to be thinking about others around her, laughs at all of my jokes (even the lames ones), and radiates joy. As cheese-y as I know that sounds… it’s true. And the best part of being part of Brandon and Sara’s wedding day was seeing a true fairytale come to life, with Sara sealing the deal with her prince charming.
Brandon and Sara’s relationship started on Facebook, but in a very unique way. Brandon got a prank call. After asking who it was, they gave him one clue… Their name started with “S.”
So Brandon took to Facebook to try to figure out who was calling him. He came across Sara’s profile and saw that they had mutual friends, so he sent her a message. He asked if she was the one calling him, and she replied that she didn’t even have his number.
(A perfect segue to exchange numbers if I’ve ever heard one haha)
Once they exchanged numbers, they talked over the phone for about three weeks before hanging out. They first met in person on Friday the 13th. Which is extra adorable, because they also got married on Friday the 13th.
When talking about how they first met, Sara said, “That night we decided we were dating. I remember how giddy I felt the following morning knowing that he was my person. As months passed it was just so easy to see that he was my person.”
Brandon talked about how they met in his vows. He talked about how crazy it was that a prank call brought them together over 7 years ago, and how grateful he was that it led him to find Sara on Facebook.
They have definitely found “their person” in each other.
I was lucky to be able to be a part of their engagement story, as well. Brandon’s mom secretly hired me to photograph Brandon propose to Sara under the guise that we were taking family pictures. It took her by complete surprise, and there were plenty of happy tears to show how excited she was to take this next step with her prince charming.
When I asked Sara what her favorite thing about Brandon is, she said, “My immediate answer is he has the most amazing eye balls! However, I am in love with the way he lets me be me. He makes me feel like a princess just the way I am and I am very grateful for that.”
I didn’t get the chance to ask Brandon what his favorite thing about Sara is, but it’s pretty easy to see what he sees in her. As I was leaving their reception, I hugged Brandon goodbye. I told him that he chose really well - it doesn’t get much better than Sara. And he looked up at her goofing off with his mom and smiled and said, “I know.”
It was such an honor to be part of Sara and Brandon’s wedding. It wasn’t the start of something new, per say. They’ve been together for seven years and have a lot of history together. But it is the continuation of something beautiful that they’ve built.
I don’t know what comes next for these two love birds, but I do know that whatever they decide to do, it’ll be a beautiful adventure. And I can’t wait to hear about it :)
My Favorite Detail: THIS IS SO HARD. This wedding was Disney themed, and the table centerpieces were definitely so fun to see. The Cinderella table was my favorite (that glass slipper tho), but I also adored Sara’s Minnie Mouse inspired sparkly heels and custom-made Mickey Mouse vest and suspenders.
Tear-Jerking Moment: Brandon’s mom gifted him a pin to wear on the inside of his suit coat with photos of her and her mom; he wore it right over his heart. The moment she gave the pin to him was really tender.
A Brandon-and-Sara Kind of Love: Disney’s “happily-ever-after” may not exist in real life, but Sara and Brandon have a way of making you feel like “real life’s” rules don’t apply. They live to support each other. They have learned to grow up together instead of growing apart. One of the words Sara used to describe their relationship was “Eternal.” I love that; this relationship was built to last. The other word she used? “Disney.” And I love that even more :)
Sara and Brandon… Thank you so much for trusting me to capture your wedding day. It was truly an honor to get a little glimpse into your relationship. Thanks for helping me wrap up my wedding season with a Disney-worthy happy ending.
