Shelby and DJ got married in an outdoor, Christ-centered ceremony this past Sunday. Other than a little bit of rain right before the ceremony (for luck, of course), the day was absolutely beautiful. The groomsmen even joked around with DJ and asked him how he got intel on how beautiful this day would be when they were wedding planning.

The morning was full of eager anticipation. Shelby and DJ waited for the ceremony to see each other, so there was a lot of excitement right before the barn doors at Woodlands opened, and Shelby walked down the aisle.

Shelby and DJ first met a track meet while they were supporting two of their friends. They didn’t really click until they were celebrating those same friends’ wedding. Shelby booked a ticket out but struggled to get a ticket back. Her dad told the story of how she had to go wait at the airport every day on standby, just in case there was a ticket available. As several days passed, he was surprised that she wasn’t getting impatient with the process. Turns out that Shelby and DJ were spending as much time together as they could. She had many reasons to be in good spirits. And perhaps one really good reason to be okay delaying her trip back ;)

When I asked Shelby what her favorite thing about DJ was, she said it was his heart and his loyalty.

DJ said his favorite thing about Shelby was that she is “the complete package.” He loves her laugh, her smile, her eyes, and her kindness.

It was such an honor to be able to document their love for each other. Not only do they have a steadfast love for each other, but they also have a strong community of people backing them up. You can tell that the life ahead of them is going to be a fun and love-filled one.

Favorite Detail: Shelby and DJ played Yahtzee together when they were in a long-distance relationship. They printed Yahtzee cards for their guests to play while they waited for the party to begin.

Tear-Jerker Moment: During the prayer before dinner, Shelby and DJ held each other really closely. There’s photos of it below - it really touched my heart.

A-Shelby-and-DJ-Kind-of-Love: Always seeking to have fun and adventure together. Their love is unique in that they always like to keep things lighthearted. It’s a Christ-centered relationship that will always put their faith in Christ first.
