Kathryn & Trenton | Sapphire Point Overlook Winter Wedding
I am not a winter person. When it comes to the snow, I think it belongs on a cone. And when it comes to the cold, I think it belongs in the freezer. I know, I know… what am I doing in Colorado? Well… the thing is, winter is absolutely beautiful. And weddings like this one are constantly proving my opinions about winter 100% wrong.
I started the day with Kathryn as she was getting ready at her Airbnb. The second I stepped in, it was really obvious how much love and attention was poured into this day. Kathryn + Trenton only had their nearest and dearest at their wedding, and everybody helped in some way to prepare for the day. Every single detail on their table was hand picked and really unique. It was such an honor to be trusted to take pictures of everything that they spent so long putting together.
One of my favorite moments of the day was when I pointed out their two cakes. I asked Kathryn, “do you have two cakes because you two couldn’t agree on one flavor?” She laughed, and then said, “no, we just wanted to make sure that everybody had a piece of cake that they could enjoy.”
And wow. That, right there, is how I would describe Kathryn + Trenton. They both (obviously) love each other so much, but also put out an energy of love to everyone they’re around. They are exceptionally kind, generous people, and I am still pinching myself that I got to document their love story.
Their ceremony was at Sapphire Point Overlook in Breckenridge, Colorado. It was a gorgeous day. There was snow on the ground, but it was warm enough to get some photos of Kathryn without her coat on. It was really adorable how Kathryn and Trenton both had some nervous excitement, until they saw each other. Then it was like they melted and settled into the day. And that’s one of the best signs that two people will make it work.
Delivering weddings is always such a bittersweet thing for me. I grow so attached to the couples that I work with, that every time I send them the final product, part of me wants to hold onto having an excuse to reach out. Kathryn + Trenton told me that they need to hire me to take photos with them and their three dogs, so it’s a little bittersweet this time around. :)
Favorite Detail: The adorable birdie salt and pepper shakers that Kathryn said she found at a thrift store.
Tear Jerking Moment: Definitely the first look. If the groom starts to cry, there is a 100% chance of Julia tears
A Trenton + Kathryn Kind of Love: A couple that is dedicated to each other, each willing to give more than the other to make the other happy. Enduring, generous, with just the right amount of goofing off. A couple that loves to make each other laugh.
